You have to earn the farm degree for it first. You can’t just do, mine, fish and grow whatever, you want in Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands. I’ve been playing since the first SNES entry, and wasn’t pleased with it, but there could be people who’d like the new concept. The board of trustees typically meet the fourth Monday of each month. One of the new additions is the farm degree, something that some Harvest Moon fans may like. The trustees desire to continue to work toward the purpose of the cooperative – powering communities and empowering members to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. As advocate - the LCEC trustees listen to the concern and needs of the members and bring those concerns and needs to the board meetings for discussion. The trustees work to ensure rates are equitable to all members, whether the service is residential, farm, or factory. As regulator - the LCEC trustees set the price of electricity to be charged to the members, including themselves, based on the costs of providing local, safe, reliable, and affordable electricity, and committed, member-focused service. When the board sets policies, monitors the general manager’s performance, approves the budget and work plan, or provides risk oversight, they work in the best interest of the collective membership of LCEC. As fiduciary - the LCEC trustees are entrusted to act for the benefit of the LCEC members. To ensure these responsibilities are met, board members take on three fundamental roles – fiduciary, regulator, and advocate. The board of trustees are responsible for directing the affairs and ensuring the long-term financial health of the cooperative. These trustees serve a three-year term and elections are held each spring before the annual meeting. Our seven board members, who live right here in our service territory, are democratically elected by active members.
